The working principle of the wire-cut EDM machine with medium wire feed: The electrode wire wound on the wire feed drum moves at a certain speed along the rotation direction of the drum. The workpiece mounted on the machine table moves relative to the electrode wire along a predetermined control trajectory. One pole of the pulse power supply is connected to the workpiece, and the other pole is connected to the electrode wire. A certain discharge gap is always maintained between the workpiece and the electrode wire, and working fluid is sprayed. The spark discharge between the electrodes erodes a certain gap, and continuous pulsed discharges cut out the workpiece with the required shape and size. Medium wire feed technology here refers to the "medium wire feed" EDM wire cutting machine, which has significantly improved processing quality compared to the fast wire feed EDM, but it still belongs to the category of high-speed wire feed EDM machines. The cutting accuracy and surface finish still have a considerable gap compared to low-speed wire feed machines, and the stability of accuracy and finish also needs further improvement. The "medium wire feed machine" features simple structure, low cost, and low consumption, so it still has its place. The standards it follows are still those related to high-speed wire feed machines, so manufacturers should be honest and realistic when promoting to users.
